I would buy it, but I can't believe a convicted rapist would have any heart or soul that the character had in the movie. If he was convicted of assault, ok. But a rapist? He wouldn't think twice about anyone and just leave the place as soon as he can. Other than that I thought it was good. I experienced a real life Big Nurse Ratched type. She was head nurse in a children's convalescent home where I was a 12 year old patient. Her name is lost to me but I see her clearly. She was a tall, imposing, good looking, 30-ish redhead resembling a certain actress famous for a TV show bearing her name. I'll call her Big Red Nurse. She never missed a chance to pull my hair or otherwise paw me. It was so frequent I began hiding from her. Upon reflection, her touching was always with no witnesses. As an adult I learned about pedophilia and that pedophiles can be women attracted to boys which reminded me of this childhood experience. A striking memory was Big Red Nurse forcing me into the bathroom of my 4 person ward room and shutting the door behind us. Once in there, I waited for whatever torment was coming but she just stood and stared at me, excited and agitated. She said and did nothing for a few moments and then opened the door and left. No one saw or knew of this except Big Red Nurse and the other three children in that room. Nothing came of it and only as an adult did this behavior take on sexual implications. A related memory was of the oldest boy on the ward. He was perhaps 13 with a slight mustache. He had an isolated room by himself and his own TV set. TV was a luxury in 1951 and having TV at all was as odd as a private room. As head nurse, she must have made the decision to put him by himself. Her suspicious fixation on me raises questions about the pubescent teenager's treatment. So Nurse Ratched is a real type. The other kids and Big Red Nurse herself are lost in time so I can't cross check with others memories. People with custodial power over others, particularly over children, need strict vetting and oversight.
